Ipad ”local network over internet”-gaming?

is there any way to play games that have ”local network”-option only?

I used to play games with hamachi when I had this limitation in a pc-game, but I have no idea if that is possible to do with ipad... I have ipad air 2 with iOS 11.x

I can’t believe the answer to this problem is so difficult to find. Is it impossible to play it over the internet?

Well, it isn't so terribly difficult to describe in general terms, but probably quite difficult to get set up and working. What you need is a VPN server (either at one site, or at a third party site like DigitalOcean.com), and use a VPN client(s) at the other end. The devil is in the details; the host has to be configured to let the two clients be able to see each other on the virtual network, which is not the way VPN's are usually set up (for security reasons). If I were going down this road I would probably start with the privatepackets.io setup on Digital Ocean, get them working separately, and then see if I could tweak the VPN appropriately so that the clients can see each other and interact.
