I noticed this awhile back and maybe I'm just missing something.

Has Apple ever stated how much memory the iPad has? The iPhone and iPhone 3G both have 128mb of memory, then the 3Gs has 256mb of memory.

So that leaves the iPad, does anyone know how much it contains?

Since its state managed multi tasking, there is not a need to have much memory.

According to the iSuppli (speculative) parts breakdown, there is 512MB. I don't know where they got that number though.

I bet somewhere there might be a thread about this topic. ...

Only the folks in Cupertino. The rest of us will have to wait for the tear-down after the official release. However, I am guessing 512Mb.

thought SJ mentioned 1 mB when he presented ipad.

Apple is trending towards downplaying technical specifications in lieu of what the device can actually do. It makes the devices seem less intimidating to the non-tech community. I would bet 512MB - 1GB.

I think given how fluid everything is it'll be a gig. But knowing apple it'll be 512mb to reduce it's life with updates to force your hand when the ipad wifi(s) and 3gs come out next year.
