iPad Mini 1 Reset - Previous User Unknown

Hi,

I am a school teacher that also tries to manage the IT.
We have several staff iPads one of which is still registered to the previous user who has now left the school. I am trying to get hold of them but so far no luck.

I need to reset the iPad to register it to the new user, but from my recollection, when doing this before, we would still need to original users Apple ID to sign in and change the Apple ID?

Is there any other way of doing this?

The school should be the owner of these devices - contact Apple support and ask for help. It’s Apple’s service, nobody else will be able to assist letting you in.
