Hello,

LAst week i lost my apple in the subway. I tried to locate it through 2find my ipad" without success. I would like to know if it is possible to format an ipad and when sb connects to the Internet, you cannot know if it is your ipad.

i 'm trhinking in buying an used ipad. how can i know that the battery is ok? I wouldn't like to know if there can be a problem because the ipad that i will buy was stolen or lost or something like that. could a person reclaim it althoug i pay for it?

If stolen and the original owner wants it back, you need to give it back. Paying for it make no difference if what you are buying was stolen.

You can send a signal to your mini to erase all.

Did you have it password protected? I assume so.

The law would always return a lost/stolen iPad to the original owner, since the person who found/stole it does not have the right to sell what was never theirs. Title of goods passes to you when you purchase them legitimately and this does not happen if the person you give your money to does not have proper title to pass. Caveat emptor (buyer beware) is the phrase that’s used. It’s not a fair situation for a buyer who bought in good faith, but it’s also not fair to expect the owner to be without their iPad because someone who stole it from them subsequently sold it on. You would want your iPad back if it was recovered by someone.

Users have had problems with IMEI blocking (possibly due to unknowingly buying a stolen device, or the seller trying a claim from insurance and attempt keep the purchaser’s money scam.) While I’m sure many others buy from eBay etc with no issues, I would stick to Apple refurbs. With an Apple refurb, you also get a new battery, so no worries there.
