Gen 2 but still several years old. I don’t think Apple will ever release a gen 3 since the home button has been dead for several generations of iPhones and now on the iPad pro’s.

Actually gen 2 is very fast enough.

I have not owned a device with gen 2 Touch ID. It is nice that I can now.
