it depends on your usage pattern. the iPP has significantly more RAM, meaning that you have e.g. less reloads in Safari, sound is probably better, etc..
do you know in number how much RAM does the new mini have?

The A15 with its 5 core GPU in the Mini 6, completely outperforms the A12Z in the Ipad Pro 2020, so you will get better single/multicore as well as GPU and neural engine performance. Games will run better, video editing will render quicker etc on the Mini 6. The 2020 Pro does have 2GB more RAM, better speakers and 120 Mhz Pro-motion display though.

Not slightly,it’s %50 more ram.(4gig vs 6gig)
Actually there is just single core score that we could say real improvement, other areas just negligible.

-Cpu multi-core score is about to same
-Gpu performance is about to same

I've edited my post to be more clear on the 2 GB extra RAM. To be fair your about right regarding the multicore scores being the same between the 2 but the Mini only needs 6 cores where as the A12Z needs 8 cores, and the 5 Core GPU (same as the 13 Pro's) in the Mini will have noticeably better GPU performance than the A12Z.

Interesting - I've thought about doing something similar.

I picked up a 2020 iPad Pro 12.9" thinking I could use it as a laptop replacement, mainly for photo & video editing. After trying that for a few months I gravitated back to my MBP.

Now, I'm thinking about selling my iPad pro for the new iPad mini, mainly for form factor.

I.e. the iPad pro is better utilized (for me) when at a table, whereas I imagine I can use the iPad mini pretty much anywhere - even if I wanted to do some light photo editing.

kinda wonder if the update for ios15 would allow apps to utilized more than 4GB or not, as far as i read, the change only affects the pros

Its not 50% rather 36~percent. 8 GB RAM would be 50% more then the ipad mini 4 GB ;)

check again, your calculations are wrong.
8 is not %50 more than 4. 8 is equal two 4’s, meaning= %100 more.
4*50/100=2
4+2=6
iPad pro 2020 has 6 GB ram
iPad pro 2020 has %50 more ram than the iPad mini 6th gen

iPad mini 6th gen has %33.3 less ram than the ipad pro 2020
6*33.3/100=1.99
6-1.99=4.01
iPad mini 6th gen has 4GB of ram
iPad mini has %33.3 less ram than the iPad pro 2020

6 is %50 more than 4
4 is %33 less than 6

Still deciding here. Leaning heavily on the new mini for portability and comfort. Fair price for 2020 IPP 11”? $500-$550? I have a Zugu case on it as well.

Well, only the Pros have more than 4GB RAM anyway. iOS can't allow apps to use the entire 4GB on 4GB RAM devices. The OS itself needs RAM to function. Forget reloads, letting a single app use all the device's memory is a sure-fire way into crashville.

Buy the iPad mini first (from Apple so good return policy). Then decide if you like it enough to ditch your iPP 11.

Suppose I could do this. I am a Best Buy Elite Plus member so I would have 45 days. Apple has a long wait time for them.

Chances are the iPad minis will be available for walk-ins tomorrow. The 64GB Wi-Fi should have plenty of stock albeit some colors might run out sooner. 256GB or cellular might be a bit more iffy. I'd wake up early and try ordering online for ISPU for those.

Caveat, Apple only has 14-day return policy for now. Can't recall if holiday return policy kicks in on October or November.

Too hard to decide, wanna have cellular:
Mini: 719€ 64GB
2021 11 Pro: 950€ 128GB space gray or 900€ silver (Amazon)…

I ordered both… Mini seems too expensive to me in comparison to the iPP11. And only 64GB. 899€ for 256GB, 128GB is sufficent for me. I really can‘t decide. Any ideas?

I have already iPP 12.9 to watch movies, but too big to hold in hand. The black is so much darker, love it. I‘m waiting for a Macbook Pro with the same Mini LED display, or OLED, then I‘ll sell the iPP 12.9.
