I’m running iOS 12 on my mini 2 and it works fine. Granted it’s a little slow but it does well! I’d say the mini 4 would be ok tbh.

I installed the iOS beta on my Mini 4 a couple of days ago. The app that I use to view photos from my cellular Trail cameras doesn’t display individual pictures properly (bad) but photo import displays the number of photos on the SD card (not exactly 1% less) and the space the use on the card (good). I haven’t spent much time using it but I think some of the lagginess is gone.

Well, i’m running ios 11 on my ipad mini 2, which is nearly 5 yrs old...so i think the ipad mini 4 should be fine. That being said, my ipad mini 2 is frustratingly slow in many things. I am definitely due for an upgrade. I only wish Apple would update the ipad mini with the latest chip & apple pencil support.

My issues with lag on the Mini 4 was fixed with iOS 11.3.
The A8 processor isn't quite the screamer but its good enough for most uses.
