The home button of my iPad Mini 4 still works, but it's not "clicking" properly anymore.
I fear that this might lead to the button not functioning at all anymore in the future; that I will not be able to press it down at all, as if it's completely stuck.
Does anyone know how to fix an issue like this?
(I've started using the virtual button option ('AssistiveTouch') available under 'Accessibility' in order to use the physical home button less.)

Thanks!

Well, there are likely procedures at ifixit.com for disassembling and replacing the home button assembly, but taking apart iPads is not for the faint of heart. As you noted, you’re living on borrowed time. If you love the form factor you can pay Apple the flat rate for an iPad mini 4 repair when it finally completely stops working, $299:

Finally, don’t forget that the five finger pinch gesture closes the current app and brings you back to the home screen like a home button press.
