Just curious how old roughly are the owners of the iPad Mini 5 ..? Is it mainly younger users or is the ownership spread across all ages..? I am considering buying one but not sure about it as I am in the 40 to 50 age range..!

Really boils down to personal preference. Honestly, probably a huge chunk of sales are corporate (UPS, warehouse, fleet, etc). I know several on MobileRead who prefer the iPad mini over Kindles (a lot of whom are retired).

I don't know what size my nephews and nieces actually prefer. They have or share 10" iPads with their siblings though. I expect they're just happy to have an iPad at all.

i am 47, i use my mini everyday for games, watching the news, to reading books and watching YouTube videos.

It’s not an age thing. All ages can use the mini. I have one that I use for reading, podcasts, games and forums, etc. It’s ultraportable.
I use other sizes too, because I like a bigger screen for some things, but the mini can do it all, just with a smaller screen.

Btw, I’m in your age group.

I'm one year before 40. I have Samsung tab also..

With an iMac, 13" Macbook Pro, and an iPhone available, my iPad mini is almost exclusively used for reading Books. For this use it is about perfect! BTW, I'm 63.

58 and just bought my Mini last month. First iPad of any kind for me: 64gb wifi. Just plan on using it for light consumption, download the odd book to read at coffee shops. For me, it's the perfect size; I'm quite happy with it so far.

I am thinking as we get older our eye sight is not as good and wondering if that is a issue for some

The smaller screen on iPad mini often doesn't mean smaller visuals, and there's a variety of features designed with eyesight in mind. For example, if you're reading a book or visiting a web site, you're often shown a smaller amount of text at the same size as a larger iPad would show you – and you can adjust the text size for most books and web sites. For many apps and web sites, you can "pinch" to zoom in and enlarge the content. A system-wide setting adjusts the text size for things like supporting native apps and system menus. And in rare cases where none of that is possible, accessibility features allow you to set up specific gestures for zooming into any content on the screen, no matter what it is.

Here's a summary of related features; quite extensive, actually: https://www.apple.com/accessibility/ipad/vision/

Apart from the excellent response you got from Starfia already, I recommend you buy from a place with a good return policy and test it out for yourself.

Nobody else will be able to make an informed decision for yourself better than you can.
