As the title suggests, case or no case for the iPad mini 5? I've bought a cheap ESR case for mine but really like the way you can use it without a case. Am thinking of getting a sleeve to carry it in and use case less. I know that a case is handy to prop up the iPad but apart from that , it's so light it's easy to use without a case.

Just wondering what others think and are doing?

I use at least a front cover because I think it makes it easier to hold. I wish apple still made its leather case like I have for my mini 2.

Yeah, I’d love a good quality leather case. I think Apple are missing a trick here. If they made a leather case for the new mini, they could charge a fortune and it’d still sell like hot cakes!

I use a Fintie Slimshell case. In fact I have ordered a second one, I like variety. I wouldn’t keep any apple device without a case on it.

Case with front cover for better grip and fingerprint mitigation. What’s a couple millimeters on such a thin and light device for some protection and grip? I see the point about naked and sleeve use though. I recommend the Tomtoc 7.9 sleeve. I set mine down quickly too frequently in unfriendly environments like my workbench though to go without case. Don’t want to worry about errant scratch. I have the ESR in green and the Tomtoc in black.

Can I also throw into the conversation screen protectors? Yes or no and if yes, which one?

I have a PaperLike on but it’s not fitted right. I messed up on one spot. I’ll try and take a pic.

I'm a fan of iCarez matte screen protectors. They're inexpensive, perform well, and provide a lot a stuff in the package to ensure a perfect application. I have one on my Mini 4 and plan to use the other (it's a two-pack) when I get my Mini 5.

Regarding cases... I prefer using only a smartcover and a clear skin on the back to improve grip and prevent scratches.

I'm not a fan of cases although I do have the ESR for when I travel. That’s not to say my iPad Mini 5 runs around naked either. I prefer a light tpu cover on the back for grip and scratches, and a glass screen protector on the front for scratch protection. I find the cases add weight and I hate that. I use the same setup on my iPad Pro 10.5.

I'm using a Speck StyleFolio iPad Mini 4 case with my Mini 5 right now, because nobody seems to have a decent case out yet for the Mini 5. After work tonight, I plan to drill holes in the case for the two microphones. Once cases are available, I will buy a new one.

Sleeve case, Smart Cover

I really enjoy the device for how thin and light it is. I really like the space gray this time around too. I may purchase a Smart Cover though, the papaya one. It may be contrasty, but I do like the color.

Smart cover plus a skin to protect the back from scratches and scrapes.

That's how I ran my mini2 and it's still pristine.

Now to find a skin for my mini5... BSE hasn't replied and not seeing anything at BoxWave.
