I hadn’t read this yet anywhere, but the mini 5 “Space Grey” is way darker than the Mini 4’s “Space Grey”. I'm definitely not complaining but it’s so weird how many different shades of “Space Grey” there are in Apple's lineup.

Yup, it’s Space Grey (early 2019) color. :) I have a few variations of Space Grey items myself LOL.

9to5Mac wrote an interesting article last year about how many different shades of space gray there have been over the years since Apple first coined the term with the iPhone 5S back in 2013. The shade started out as charcoal in 2013, got lighter to the point of being hard to distinguish from silver aluminum in 2014-early 2016 (with the exception of the 2017 iPads), and has been getting steadily darker again on the products released since. I much prefer the darker shades so I’m happy to see this change!

I'm guessing Space Grey is still lighter than Slate? I didn't get the iPhone 5 but loved that colour and might go back to black bezels if they offer it again.

There must be a lot of different shades of gray.

Wonder if they'll get to 50? (Apologies if that series isn't well known outside of the UK.)

I think after many users started to complain about the shades of space gray, apple quietly took notice and are now trying to uniform the color to one shade depending in glass/aluminum. I personally don’t mind it.

I think I’m in the minority as I preferred the lighter space grey. It is weird how apple can’t seem to make its mind up which shade to use.
