Yeah, I saw this. Could be legit. Who knows. If so, it lends credibility to the belief that the iPad mini 5 will retain the old design with a few tweaks and updated internals. Doesn’t look like it will support the Apple Pencil 2 however. It might not even support the first gen Pencil. Which in my opinion, would suck. This plus a non laminated screen could be the new low cost iPad in Apple’s lineup. Maybe allowing Apple to raise the price of the regular iPad and giving it a re-design closer to the new pros with Apple Pencil 2 support, usb-c and Face ID. But again, all speculation.

As an iPad mini2 owner, I welcome ANY update to the mini at this point. But I can’t deny that as an artist, I was hoping the mini 5 would get the flat edged design with Apple Pencil 2 support. It may come eventually if this update sells well. Or perhaps the iPad mini 5 will be like the last two versions and not be updated again for years and years...if ever.

So I will upgrade my iPad mini 2 and buy the mini 5 no matter what. It’s still a great size iPad for slipping into my cargo pants pocket when I wanna travel light.

My main use for an iPad is the Books app, so I would love a mini update. But I would want some of the Pro features before I would actually buy it.
