I've had an iPad mini 5th gen for about 14 months that was a gift. I'm having charging problems. Sometimes the iPad will begin charging immediately after plugging in the cable, and sometimes it won't charge at all until I reinsert the charge cable or until I wiggle the cable. Apple says take it to their store or registered dealer to have it checked out. Will probably do that, but before I do I wanted to check to see if anyone else out there has had the same problem. I had an old mini for years and never had a charging problem with it. Only reason I'm still not using it is I can't upgrade software and some apps stopped running. I've tried several Apple cube chargers and several cables, most Apple but one not Apple, all with the same result. Newest charger and cable combo is less than a month old. Never had a charging problem with my iPhones with any of the charger/cable combos.
Thanks.

Check out this recent thread to see if there's info that might be helpful:

Did the iPad mini have Applecare included? You could always use that to get a replacement device.
Applecare was not included, and based on the years of excellent trouble-free service I had with my old mini I didn't buy Applecare. Bad decision.

Just inserted a charge cable with various connection sequences into an Apple charger and MacBook Pro. iPad didn't charge until last attempt using a charger resulted in immediate charge. My opinion: I really don't think the connection sequence has anything to do with a successful charge. Electrons are going to flow when a successful connection is made regardless of when or how that connection is made. And I keep my electronic equipment safe and dry so I know no water is in the charge cable. Both of these were suggested in the thread referenced above.

I spent about 45 minutes on this problem with Apple support yesterday. Their analysis and diagnostics found no problems. Result: It was suggested I take the iPad to an Apple store or authorized repair facility to have it checked out. Guess I'll do that.

Thanks for your responses.
