Recently picked up the new iPad Mini 6 and noticed some ripples from light pressure against the screen. This is especially noticable while holding it with one hand. I've came across a few people with similar issues, wondering if anyone else has been expieriencing this as well, and what you think I should do about it.

I see this slightly in dark mode only. About the same as yours.

But I don't use dark mode for the Mini, as it is no good for outside in bright light (too reflective).
This does not happen on my iPad Pro, btw

I have to press pretty firmly to make it happen - much harder than a normal touch.
It is basically an inherent characteristic of LCD panels, some being more susceptible than others, partly a function of how thick and hard the glass face is.
I would therefore consider it a disadvantage, not a defect.

For me, it doesn't even need to be on dark mode to be visible. It even shows on my lock screen. For the previous iPads I've used in the pass, I had to press pretty much firmly down for this to occur as well. I don't have to press down hard at all for the mini to make this happen.

The pros were doing this in 2018 weren’t they?

Ok, I can see some rippling when pressing on a darkish background, especially near the front camera.
It is pretty much impossible to compare your hard press with my hard press, so I suppose the best you could do is go to an Apple Store and compare, to figure out if yours is worse than others.
If it is just the same, then you need to decide if it bothers you enough that you want to return it.

On my 2018 11" iPad Pro I can get slight rippling if I press very hard on a dark background. First time I noticed this in 3 years, and only because I tried to make it ripple after reading this thread.

On my new iPad Mini 6, I can get slight rippling if I press a little less hard. However it does not bother me, as in real usage I would seldom press this hard.

I got a tempered glass screen protector and I haven't seen this issue on my mini 6. Neither on Pro 11 2018 with just a film protector. But I don't press hard anyway, it's not a Force Touch screen.

I never press hard on my screen. What are you guys trying to do?
In the video I am not pressing down hard at all for the ripples to occur. This is with just regular tapping even at the center of the screen, the ripple will still appear.

Thanks for replying, that's good to hear. I also had a tempered glass screen protector on my iPad mini 6 until i noticed the ripples. I wanted to check if the ripples would still occur even without the screen protector and it was even more visible with it off. I've also never had this issue on my Pro 11 2018 and Air 2 as well.

Thank you, I think I will go compare them with the other demo units.
