Hi all,

I was wondering if someone could make an educated guess for me based on prior years’ data and observations. I realized that I should’ve opted for the cellular iPad mini model, but the particular one I’d like (256GB Starlight) is no longer available for launch-day shipping or in-store pickup near me. In past years has it been possible to walk in and purchase a device that has “sold out” for in-store pickup, or does a lack of ability to order for in-store pickup indicate that the store has zero left for anybody?

I have an 8AM iPhone pickup appointment, so if they do have separate in-store pickup stock I’m thinking it’ll be easy for me to grab one then.

Thanks in advance for any insight!

At least in the US (Los Angeles area), I managed to order the M1 12.9 1TB 5G I think around 3-5AM release day for in-store pickup. The 1TB 5G was gone quickly but iirc, 1TB wifi models were still available until maybe around lunch time or something.

Based on the store associate's comment when I picked up though, they usually have decent stock upon release for walk-ins so they might have still had 1TB 5G that weren't made available for online ordering.

Thanks so much! I forgot about that day-of-launch stock that opens up early in the morning. I’ll keep my eyes out and try to get a reservation that way

Lots of stock is my guess. We shall see. Maybe even Best Buy and others besides the Apple Stores.

I seems to me that Apple would have a stake in having the stores stocked.

I'm hoping for in store pick up this Friday as well.

When the pre-orders opened up for the iPad mini 6 I told myself to give it a few days to think about it and I've decided I will update from the iPad mini 2 to the 6 heh.
Had been thinking on and off for the past year about getting a new mini hoping they would make a big update so I'm pretty stoked on this 6.

Yeah, I'm hoping to take advantage of the $200 T-Mobile promotion and that requires me to buy it directly from Apple. Reeeaaallllyy hoping I can snag one Friday morning. I've got a 256GB / Starlight / Wi-Fi model delivering on launch day, but after further thought I really do want the option for GPS and cellular.

I honestly hate when they open up orders immediately after a keynote. It gives me no time to put thought into which configuration I want to purchase. Just frantically put out for the most obvious choice in the moment.

There will be plenty

Despite the excitement here for an updated Mini, I'm pretty sure the Mini is a fairly niche device in the grand scheme.

There's a reason we've been worried about it getting axed in the past.
Fair enough... For some reason I'm all frantic about not having one secured, but it probably will be easy. Really glad that they are showing the mini some love, and am happy to 'vote with my wallet' telling them they did the right thing.

Yep - I'm thinking they should have a bit of inshore stock that day. Just so happens I had previously requested off this Friday off work months ago too so hoping everything lines up for a good day on Friday.

100% agree. I understand why they do from a business point, but I don't want to just drop $XXX.XX right on the spot like that and then deal with the hassle of returns/refunds/etc if I change my mind in the coming days.
