Hello all. I currently use iCloud for all my devices IPad Pro, IPhone iMac , Mac Book and have 1.5 terabytes available of 2 terabyte plan. I am considering buying iPad mini 6 and since I will use it for mainly consumption and taking notes no gaming apps basically News apps CNN, PBS etc and streaming movies Disney+, YouTube and viewing photos on Flickr etc I’m thinking 64gb would be sufficient. Any reason to give serious consideration to purchasing 256gb?

Doesn't seem like you have a use for the extra storage. Might as well save the $150.

For pure content consumption, 64 GB is plenty. The topic of storage is discussed quite often here, so browsing the board will lead you to plenty additional information.

Well…at first I was definetly going for the 64, but then thinking about it (128 would’ve been perfect and Tim knows that) I went for 256.
Why? It’s a redesign with the current A15 chip so it’s gonna last for a while and eventually I might use it more of a device that I store movies on, photo editing, etc compared to my mini5.
It’s a complioment device to my 2018 ipad pro 12.9 which I would trade in on whatever the 2022 version is since it’ll probably be a worthy upgrade to it.

I think you mean streaming. The largest space hog on my iPads and pretty much the driving force for my upgrades is (local/offline) content consumption.

At 256GB and below, storage was pretty much used up by manga/comics. There was no space available for movies and TV on my iPad until Apple bumped max storage to 512GB.

Yes, good catch, I meant streaming. Saving content locally is of course the opposite and demanding on storage.

Very cool feature that I just discovered on my new Mini 6: the volume buttons automatically switch functions depending on the orientation of the screen. That is, whichever of the two buttons is closest to the top edge of the iPad automatically becomes the “volume up” button, and the other “volume down.” Rotating the iPad Mini 180 degrees so that the top edge becomes the bottom edge causes the two buttons to switch functions with each other.

Not sure if this also happens with other iPads. It doesn’t with my 4th gen 12.9 iPP.
