Welp, these two seem pretty similar aside from size of course. Is the M2 Air 11" worth the extra $100 vs the A17 Pro Mini 7? I think aside from the size and price, everything else is pretty much the same between these two, correct?

I got my mini 7 yesterday and am really enjoying it. It's such a nice size compared to my iPP. The screen isn't as nice, but I don't mind as long as I'm not comparing the two side by side.

Although A17 Pro is a little faster single-core, M2 beats it handily in multi-core and absolutely destroys it in Metal (graphics).

If this is your only iPad and you already have an iPhone, I don't see why someone would choose the mini. If you own an iPad already and travel a lot, then I would probably get a mini as a secondary iPad.

Comes down to size. I like the Mini 7...but that's me. I like the Pro 11...but different needs. The Mini is a consumption tablet, for watching movies, Internet, etc. If you need more computer-like usage I say the Pro. Can I do that on a Mini, sure, but the Pro has abilities that deliver it easier. Then again that is why it is double the price of the Mini. Yes the Pro has a better screen and now a M4 chip...but again it should be for $1000.

If you intend to play games a lot then the air is what you want. Otherwise picking on preferred size is a good idea.

If using a controller, then bigger iPad is nice.

For handheld touchscreen gaming, the Mini is my favorite. The screen isn’t too small like a phone (that’s not a foldable) but it’s still light enough to hold for long periods.

My new Mini arrived today. I like it just fine even though I have 13- and 11-inch M2 iPad Airs. The first thing I noticed when comparing it with the 11-inch Air was that the Mini still has its Facetime camera mounted in portrait orientation - as opposed to landscape mode for all of the other iPads. Frankly that‘s a bit annoying - at least for people like me who use tablets in landscape orientation. I’m sure some others will be pleased.

I’m biased because I have the 11” M2 IPP and love it. Though I use it everyday as a laptop with the MKB while I’m working in my home office. So I’m able to browse the internet, respond to texts, check email and stream on it throughout the day. While the size of the Mini is nice, I need a bigger sized iPad on a day-to-day basis.

At 1050-1073 grams you are not far away from a macbook air laptop.

This is legitimate use case (desktop Magic Keyboard) for 11 inch sizes.

Mini doesn’t compete in that space and much better supports the above desktop setup with ipad or laptop.

If OP thinks that M2 air is a better buy being close to mini, then should look into m2 pro - target had them for 479 3 weeks ago. Or pay the full price for m4 pro. M2 air the way it is now almost a red haired middle child.

Mini7 has faster single core. Your day to day tasks will be faster on mini than air m2.

Air m2 has more power in gpu and multi core. If you are smn doing batch exports in lightroom, you will benefit from m2 air. If you do one thing at a time, mini will be faster.

$479 for an M2 iPad Pro???? That can't be right....really? Seems way too low.

Yeah, i just scroll the website called slickdeals, and this one showed up Sunday morning and was gone by sunday night.

Target really surprised with their fire sale, but yeah it was 479 and add 50-60 dollars to get more memory. I think 13 inch was around 630.

Thanks. I just checked out the thread on there. Amazing deal. Although, many many posters claimed to have issues with fake versions they received from that Target deal?

With or without iPhone I don't see a reason why someone would choose anything else except iPad Mini.

I have both the iPad mini 7 and an iPad Pro 2018 11". My iPad Pro stays by my bed and my iPad mini is what I use around the house and when traveling. While the iPad Pro has a great screen with ProMotion, the portability of the iPad mini wins out more often than not when compared to my 11" iPad.

I currently have the same 2018 iPad Pro 11". Do you notice a big difference in screen quality and sound quality. How has the battery life been.

You are welcome. The catch with fakes that people would buy m2 ipads and swap with fakes - return to store.

So the safest bet was to deliver to one’s house so it ships immaculate from the warehouse. Pick up orders were playing the gamble - fake ipads were sealed back in and returned as unopened items and i am sure the store just put them out on sale without checking.
