Right now Amazon has the space gray Mini 6 with 64 GB for $459.

I did not think that there would be a sale for a new and popular model like this. I’d like to jump on this, but I worry about it being counterfeit or refurbished.

Do you think it’s real?

There's a guy around me who's been trying to sell one "sealed BNIB" for $490

I inquired about it for fun as it hasn't moved for well over a month.
He replied that "they are sold out EVERYWHERE" ... this is a GREAT deal"

I was like..."they why has it been for sale for 1.5 months?"

The base mini 6 was actually on sale for $459 during Amazon preorders prior to launch. The base iPad 9th gen was discounted to $299. Ship dates were unpredictable but if you're not in a hurry, it's a fairly decent discount for a brand new release.

Just make sure it's Sold by and Shipped by Amazon.com

The disadvantage of buying computers and tablets from Amazon is that, unlike Apple, they cannot be returned once opened. Make sure this is worth the discount to you.

"New desktop, laptops, or tablets (excluding Kindle E-readers and Fires) purchased from Amazon.com that didn't start when they arrived, arrived in damaged condition, or is still in an unopened box can be returned for a full refund"

I have returned a couple of laptops bought from Amazon and received full refunds.

Yes, this has been true for many people, the problem is one has two choices when deciding whether to buy from Amazon (or B&H or Adorama, etc.):
1) Assume the return policy is as written and published on their website.
2) Assume the return policy is as experienced by various people on an internet forum, and Amazon will not actually enforce their written return policy.

I suppose it depends on how much discount there is, in deciding to choose option 2.

It will get difficult trying to explain to Amazon/B&H/Adorama that someone on an internet forum said they accepted returns, after the return gets denied or a restocking fee is charged.

But, yes, good to point out that Amazon does not always enforce their return policy.

Bought mine a few weeks ago at Micro Center for $489 and have been using it everyday - totally worth the price for me!

Who is it sold by? That’s what you need to know. Also the price would be low if it’s not cellular capable.

That’s a “Renewed” item and there’s no indication of the seller. That’s a red flag to me. Also, all the “Renewed” or “Refurbished” Apple items I’ve ever checked out only guaranteed the battery to be 80%.
It’s also wi-fi only

Bought anything yet? It's back to $459 at Amazon.

Amazon is an authorized Apple dealer - the iPad will be new and authentic. But be sure it says "ships from" and "sold by" Amazon and not a third party.

If you use a site like camelcamelcamel, you can get notified when an Amazon price hits your desired buy point. You can also see how volatile Amazon's pricing is over time for a given product.

The link you supply takes us to the same page.
Nowhere does it say “Sold and Ships from Amazon”.
Also, none of the buying choices are from Amazon.
Yes, Amazon is an authorized Apple reseller, but this is not through Amazon.
The page has been changed since yesterday, however, because I no longer see “Renewed” in the description.

These go in and out of stock regularly. You could see “Sold and Ships from Amazon” one minute and Amazon Marketplace the next minute.
