I enjoying using the iPad Pro 11” with its larger screen size in a familiar form factor do to FaceID. I was hoping the same with the recent release of the 5th generation iPad mini but was disappointed. Anyone holding out on purchasing or upgrading their iPad mini until such implementation of FaceID?

Face ID on the iPad Mini would be a dream come true.

I did, went with a 11” Pro instead. I’m over the dated home button and huge bezels.

I have no problem going between Touch ID and Face ID. With swiping up there is little need to use the home button very often on the mini5 and Touch ID works well.

If you think so but the Mini is kinds a low budget device and it could be another few years before they upgrade it.

I am still betting that the time is NEVER.

The mini lags behind several years, which is super unfortunate, but I think eventually it will happen. Will it be named something else? Perhaps... Will it be a different size? Perhaps...

Nope. The form factor makes up for any shortcomings of Touch ID (which imo is just marginally slower than Face ID). For my use case, the mini is a far better device than the 11’ Pro.

Or perhaps Apple will stop selling it at all!

No sense in arguing as neither of know what Apple will do!

So maybe next year your are expecting FaceID in the SE?

Done here.:p

Its smart to have different choices so that consumers can pick a device that best fits their use-case. We had a Mini 2 LTE back in the day (when it was new) and it was a great device, especially back in those days. I am hopeful we will get an iPhone X styled iPad Mini at some point.
