I'm in search of an awesome game and keep noticing these two keep getting mentioned. I'm wondering which one would be the best.

I would love to play against other ppl and hear NOVA can do that, similar in a call of duty kind of way. But I also hear that Modern Combat has better graphics and controls.

..any suggestions?

I would get geometry wars but if it's out of those two I'd go with NOVA of course I've only played the iPhone versions.

NOVA = Halo
Modern Combat = Call of Duty

I've only played NOVA HD and the iPhone demo of Modern Combat but both seem to have similar controls. They are both decent examples I think of what one can do on the iPad and iPhone as far as controls and graphics go but both seem to have throw away stories and both borrow heavily from the games mentioned above. They both also have multiplayer but I haven't dived into it yet.

I'd say its a toss up. Do you want sci fi or modern military theme?

Mirror's Edge on the flip side keeps the original's art style and music while completely changing the gameplay to something like Canabalt with swipe controls. A lot of fun and speed runs and leaderboards add to the replayability. I was disappointed though they didn't use any of the original's voice work and right now the leaderboards seem to be broken (hopefully fixed in a patch).

Guess I'm just not a big fan of gameloft cloning popular franchises. =\

I have Nova for the iPhone, great graphics, and actually scales ok on the iPad. Have'nt tried Modern Combat HD.
