Was watching Modern Family on ABC (of all networks), where one of the characters is having a birthday and desires an iPad.

After his wife waits on line, getting into a fight with a line cutter and kicked out of line, blah blah blah, the kid of the family makes some calls and comes home with one.

They put a virtual birthday cake on it and he blows out the candles.

About the entire story line was about getting the iPad...

Talk about building up the hype!

ABC's Modern Family episode today is about the iPad

The father is an early adopter of apple stuff, he talks about being in line for one on his birthday. His wife says she will do it and of course she falls asleep, doesn't get one on launch day, he freaks out cause all his friends have one and they get one later in the day. He blows out birthday candles on an app on the ipad. LOL

iPad On Tonight's Episode Of Modern Family!

Anyone catch tonight's episode? Storyline built around the iPad. Hysterical!

LOL I missed most of it but caught then end when he said something like "are you ready for the first day of the rest of our lives?" So true.

Then right before the credits he's playing with the iPad and said "I love you" to it, then the wife walks in the room and says "I love you too." Wonder how many guys this will happen to this weekend.

iPad on a TV Show

I just finished watching one of the worst tv shows I have ever seen, but interestingly enough almost the whole show was focused on Apple's iPad. It was the husbands birthday and all he wanted was an iPad, he had what some would call obsessive fanboy behavior. Anyway, long story short he finally ends up with the iPad for his birthday and they show a birthday cake app and he blows out the candles.

It was just weird, brilliant, genius, marketing on somebody's part because I would have never watched that awful sitcom normally, but I was channel surfing and heard them mention the iPad so I wasted a half hour of my life. Anybody else see it and get dragged into it?

Great Episode

Love the show, but you must think since this must have been taped a while ago, I am sure a ton of Apple Exec's were on the set while they were using it. Makes you wonder if this was written by the writers, or Steve Jobs had something to do with this.

ha, nvm...I see I've been merged...I knew it would be posted somewhere already, just couldn't find it.

Modern Family might be the funniest show on TV. Ill put it up against anything else out there right now.

Anyways, it was cool seeing the whole episode revolving around the Ipad!

Put it up against, "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" and it would lose! :p

Maybe I was being too hard on it, it made me smirk a couple of times...

I agree, loved the episode, and the show is pretty good even without the iPad.

But it was still awesome. lol

You know, I'm really excited about the iPad, and Modern Family is one of my favorite shows, but I have very mixed feelings about tonight's episode. I was excited to see the iPad up front and center, but the marketing felt totally invasive and I think it cheapened the show, like the writers had to compromise. I hope this doesn't set marketing precedent, though I suspect it will.

Ya'll realize that the largest individual shareholder of ABC's parent company happens to be the guy responsible for the iPad, right? What ownership wants, ownership gets.

Great show, btw.

That was actually a pretty weak episode of Modern Family (probably because the whole episode was one long commercial), but it was still kinda funny. Usually that show is much better.

"You can get it net week."

"That's the worst thing you can say to an early adopter!"

Nice.

Did anyone catch any of the screen names of Phil's online friends? I guess Phil is a member here:p

Now I see a bunch of people complaining day 1 when there is no blow out the candles birthday app. lol

"It's not just that, the iPad comes out on my actual birthday. It's like Steve Jobs and God got together to say, 'We love you Phil!'"

For some reason I dug that and early adopter line posted above.

ABC is owned by Walt Disney Co.
Walt Disney co. is owned by Pixar.
Pixar is owned by Steve Jobs.

Steve owns this show.
…This is no coincidence.

Pixar does not own Disney, Disney bought Pixar from Steve Jobs. He is however the largest shareholder of Disney.

What I find confusing is that there are apple computers all over this show and they always cover up to logo, yet they have and iPad episode. Hilarious none the less.
