iPad on Vz when did this happen?

Your title is a bit misleading as well. The iPad is not "on Verizon". They just bundle the wifi version with a MiFi Mobile Hotspot. So really, its been available "on Verizon" since it came out. Possibly with different prices, i don't know and don't really care to spend the time finding out.
 
It happened when the iPad was originally released. Only thing different now is that Verizon offers you the same iPad and old MiFi device as a bundle for more $$$ than they'd be worth separately. How do people not know that you could have done this all along?

christ, i heard someone on the new go "if you havent bought the iPad yet, you'll be glad you waited. Blah blah blah ... you can now use portable Verizon hotspots and get it with the iPad ... blah blah blah...

It makes me want to scream.

+1 Thats key to understand. Hopefully this apple verizon relationship pans out!
