I was translating some Russian to English with Google Translate yesterday.
Russian is a pain because of the Cyrillic Alphabet. Normally, I'd have to remap a conventional Latin-alphabet keyboard and print out the map of Cyrillic keys.
The iPad's onscreen keyboard makes it a snap. Just add an International keyboard and ...instant Русские! (Russian)
It's the same for other alphabets with no Latin roots.... Just add a keyboard in Settings and you're all set to type in Kanji or whatever Apple decides to support. Hopefully Arabic at some point.
This has a ton of uses. At my job, I'm occasionally expected to communicate with non-English speaking customers. Google Translate does a good job of translating English to an acceptable form of Chinese or Japanese but up till now I've had no way to let them reply fluently. It's going to be interesting to try the iPad on the next one.
This also makes the iPad about the worlds best travel companion.
Just this one feature makes the iPad worth its weight in Gold.

PS. I'm not at all fluent in any languages other than American and British English, a teenie bit German and even less Spanish. The iPad combined with a translator program makes a wonderful tool for us lazy Mono-Linguistians.
