please help, I'm stuck on deciding between an 32gb 3G iPad or a new 13"MBP 2.4ghz:confused:
Currently I'm using a late 2006 white macbook 2ghz, but have access to all computers in my signature (they aren't all mine so I cant take them or claim them as mine)
If I got an iPad:
- I'd use it for school
- For short day or 2 day trips
- General lying around internet surfing/games/videos
If I got a MBP:
- I'd use it for school
- Replace my old MB for everything
- Do things I cant do on my current MB

Any suggestions on what I should get, and explain please I dont want one word answers

personally i'd go for the MBP, it can do everything that the iPad does, the battery life is pretty good, and it's not much bigger ;)

I am also in the same thought process, Buy an iPad or get a Macbook Pro.

the iPad is slightly cheaper compared to the MBP, but for me the price doesn't matter.

I have an iMac in my room which I will use to run all my stuff, play games (yes!) and Watch TV and Movies.

We also have a family Macbook Pro which I hardly ever use but I think that if I had an iPad, I could use it while playing Playstation to just browse the web easier, or access Facebook, Twitter or IM my buddies rather than using a Laptop.

I think with my reasons for iPad is that it's a simple product and I won't need it for anything more than browsing the Web, Watching Videos and just general recreation. If you want/need to have heavy tasks like Photoshop then it may be best to get a Macbook, and to be honest it probably makes more sense to buy a Macbook, but I think the convinience and for what I need it for, an iPad does a more than adequate job of it. Plus it's sexy.

buy a $500 iPad

and

a $500 Windows 7 Laptop from Best Buy

or

a $599 Mac Mini

= $1,100

13" Macbook Pro = $1,200

Personally I think I'd rather get a MBP but I just love the iPad so much:eek:
quick someone diss the iPad:p

Just click submit once.

Simple.

Don't create multiple threads in different forums. It won't help you to do this.

Ohh thats what you meant I thought you were referring to a way to have the thread in multiple categories but still link to the same thread

No. Pick one category/forum and make your thread. Do not repeat the same thread in more than one category/forum.

I'm sure your other threads have already been deleted.

If I didn't already have a computer, I would get a computer.

If I already had a computer, I would get an iPad as a supplementary device. This is what I did.

13" laptop, mbp or other kind is just not a good idea.

So go with the iPad.

if you are going to get a laptop, you should get at least 15".

I also have an older mac book and it still works fine for what I use it for. I feel like youll be missing out if you just buy another laptop. go for the ipad! and save a bundle in the process!

Why would you want another laptop with all these MacBooks that you already have? You think a little faster processing speed is going to excite you? Get an iPad if you have to buy something.

Only way I would get the computer is if I didn't have one already. Def go for the ipad here. The MBP will def be an upgrade from what you have, but if you haven't found the need or want to upgrade til now fro that machine, it sounds like you won't technically need the upgrade while everyone def needs an ipad.

well I've definitely been wishing for a new notebook ever since they first released the unibody, I just never had the money, but now I do
and my mom is a teacher so I can get the education discount so a new MBP would only cost $1,100
but... I still really want an iPad but more because it is an "iPad" and also the app store, full blown computer games cost alot more than apps

There is no way an iPad can replace a laptop if you do anything more than surf the web and read e-mail. If you want to attach anything to anything then no ... the iPad is not your device.

I would get the MBP now and save up for the second or third gen iPad. The iPad isn't a fully functional computer (like a MBP), so it makes sense to get the pro first and wait a little for the iPad.
