iPad or iPod Touch

Ever since the announcement i've been pondering which one
I have a 32 gb iPod Touch 2nd Gen which is great everything i could wish for but the pad is somehow apples 'most revolutionary product yet.' and i really want one! The main problems are that its really bulky compared to my touch so it obviously couldn't fit into my pocket and i would be too worried about leaving it in my bag for a 10-20 minutes while having lunch. Plus next year im getting a Macbook Pro for University so im not sure if its worth getting it or not

I would say the iPod Touch is going to full fill your needs the best. To properly benefit from all the features of the iPad your need a main computer to sync all films etc.

wait until after April 3rd, walk into an Apple Store and play with it, if you feel that it will be useful in your day-to-day life and more useful than your iPod touch, buy one. Also, is it in your budget and are your wiling to spend $499 ($599, $699) for an iPad if you already own an iPod touch.

The niche the tablet PCs are going to fill isn't well defined yet. You've already realized the iPad isn't pocketable.

Keep your Touch. As far as I know there is no lock port on the ipad like there is on most laptop/netbooks. Resist the Apple lust for now and wait until the ipad is available in stores. Everyone is going to have to make room in their life for one. It's a $500+ toy you may not have any real need for at all. If think you do, then play with one in a store first. Get a feel for handling and typing on it. If you still want one by then then go ahead. No one but a few tech journalists have actually touched one, and those were incomplete prototypes. You'll only be smarter for having waited a couple of weeks, and you might end up with $500 to spend on things more important.

It probably won't be too long until the iPod Touch is known as the 'iPad Nano'

The more advanced the technology is, the more transparent it is to the user. I believe the iPad is indicative of one way we will be using the computers in the future.

This is such a big misconception. Running specific iPad Apps will make it unique and the experience very different right out the gate. Besides the included Apps I'll bet there will be will over a 100 (probably closer to 500) in the Apps store on April 3rd. As iPad only Apps grow in number it will farther distance itself from the iPhone/iTouch.

I agree, at least with your first statement. If they haven't payed attention to the flaws the iPod Touch and iPhone have then the iPad won't be setting any new standard for technology. There are many ineffiencies among the Touch's included apps that hopefully will be corrected on the iPad. Apple is trusting that since the iPhone/Touch UIs were so successful that they shouldn't mess around with the iPad's UI. There are many more efficient things they could have done, and they might have. We'll have to wait and see.
