I'm thinking about getting an ipad right now, but I'm not sure if I should wait and get the itouch 4g instead. Any ideas?

They are really two completely different devices that do similar things. I don't actually think one totally replaces the other.

You have to think about what your needs are. True portability is much better on the Touch but the iPad has a way bigger screen for movies or reading.

I think what you need to decide is if you need more of a iPod or a mini-computer. If you want to play podcasts and music in the car or when walking the dog the Touch is the way to go....if you plan on using it for books and movies then the iPad is the way to go.

If you are a student then the Touch is better suited for your needs. If you are and adult who likes to read I suggest the ipad.

Or even better.....get both!!!!!!!
:D

Don't you think advice will be a little biased in this forum?:p

Jokes aside, and trying to be as unbiased as possible I'd say the iPad. IMHO it's more bang for the buck, and the experience is something I haven't found anywhere else.

Do you want to take it everywhere? Do you want a bug screen or a little screen?

And the main point. Can you afford it?

I love using my iPad at home on the sofa or on my bed. Means i don't have to have a heavy laptop on me. I prefer it to my iphone 4 because the screen is bigger. Yet I can still carry my iPhone with me.

Depends on many factors.

Sent from my iPad.

Thanks, so far I'm more on the itouch side than the ipad, but I have to wait to Sep. to really make the decision so keep posting!

In order to get a sensible answer I think it would be pertinent to state what you would use it for - I need to do a lot of readings for university and an iPod Touch would've been just too small to comforably read some of the awful scans that are used by online journals. Let us know what your demands are and I think you'll receive a more usable answer to your question.

I have enough to get a ipad but not both. I want this to watch movies, play games, check my mail, read, and surf the web. I also want to take it everywhere without any hazards. I am 15 and going into highschool. And I don't have any apple products. Does that help answer any questions?

P.S. Be as biased as you want.

good luck. If you plan on taking this to school and such places with lots of other teenagers you will either find your ipad broken or stolen before too long. I highly suggest you stick with the ipod Touch. Better yet, get an iPhone.

Yes: Either save your money or spend it on something USEFUL instead, for example a donation to a local animal shelter would be wonderful.

Since you cannot even decide on a screen size, you obviously don't have a need for either device, except for maybe the lust to own a shiny new toy. And believe me, I fully understand everybody who's lusting for a new technology toy. But the point is that those gadgets are just that: TOYS. It's not that your life depends on it and they certainly don't make you a better or more interesting human being.

Thanks for the advise! I think I'll be getting the itouch 4g when it comes out.:D

Do you want a big screen or a little screen?

This would be where I would be most concerned, also.

Ive had an iPhone for 2 years with all types of apps.
I just got an iPad & have installed those same apps from my iPhone to the iPad.

The difference is of course incredible visually but the larger size also makes a great difference in how I use the apps & how much more pleasure I get from simply having a larger app.

If you can do a side by side comparison of an iTouch & an iPad youll really see what Im talking about...

iPad is a more full experience. If you already have an iPod get the iPad.
