Just upgraded to beta 3 on a 2020 11” iPad Pro. First thing I do is open spotlight to open an app, as I do 100x a day…and no results. Spotlight UI comes up and gives me a search bar, but nothing I type in will give results, hitting return does nothing.

App library search also has the same result - nothing.

I can live with some bugs, but this has to be the worst beta bug I’ve run into so far, I basically don’t know how to use my iPad without cmd + spacebar…attempted a reboot with no luck.

Anyone else seeing the same?

Spotlight gives results, but not app results for me. Searching for Notes for example shows the Wikipedia article explaining that Notes is Apple's note taking app, rather than showing the actual notes app

People in the main beta 3 thread are saying it often takes either a few reboots, or a few hours, or both before it starts working.

Probably re-indexing apps for search ability with more search ability options - search by category, title, developer, maybe even other fancy stuff like their App Store tags or something

This is also broken for me on my iPhone 12 Pro, but works fine on my 2020 iPad Pro 11.

I have rebooted several times. It works fine right after reboot, but stops working after first use.

Would love a fix if anyone finds one. I have reported it via Feedback.

Also reported via feedback. Hoping we get the next beta this week and that fixes it, spotlight is the only way I use my iPad…I literally have no idea where apps are on homescreens or the app library…

Search was working fine for me until last night - now nothing I have tried so far has fixed it. As I use search as my primary means of app launching, it is quite annoying. Hoping for a fix / workaround sooner than later.

Update: I’ve found that turning off all 4 Siri suggestions options in Settings -> Siri and Search followed by a reboot fixes search completely (albeit without Siri suggestions).

Turning any one of them back on immediately breaks searching again.

Thank you! This is sweet relief until the Siri bug is fixed. I really appreciate you posting.

Unfortunately, on my iPhone 12 Pro Max running b3, search worked once after a reboot, and has failed since then.

This issue is around since the ios14 beta 1 for me. Now it is my 4th iPhone since then, just received a new 13 pro max today and the issue is STILL there. On a BRAND NEW device - new iCloud, no third-party apps, nothing connected to a previous device. Worked fine for a few minutes and now it's broken, giving empty results.

Have you fixed your issue with an iPad?

I have exactly the same issue with my 11 Pro. Search is not working at all (no results) for Spotlight, App Library, and inside Settings app. It suddenly stop working one day, I think like a week ago. I'm running iOS 15.1.
I tried everything, changing settings and language, restarting the device, I even erased it completely and installed an iCloud backup. Nothing helps, but it does work for like a minute after each restart. Does anyone have a way to make it work again? I really used Spotlight a lot.
