Hi, I know it’s a beta and I use my iPad all the time for social and home stuff. Has any one downloaded the beta and if so how stable is it?

One of the luxuries of being able to keep one's old iPads when you upgrade, is that you can use the old one for betas.

I wasn't willing to risk my new iPP with the beta, but my 1st gen iPP has been doing great with the beta.

I wouldn't risk a device I need to use everyday, but if you have another to spare, go for it. iPad OS is great.

I've been using DP2 on my IPP 11" (2018). Lots of little oddities, such as:
  • Nightly restarts/resprings
  • some shortcut automations not working
  • CMD key on folio keyboard not triggering keyboard shortcut list
  • Files wonkiness (particularly with OneDrive)
Add to those the general user unfriendliness of multi-tasking.

Bottom line: I love it! It is going to be a great release (really). But bad things can happen during betas. In another thread, installing the beta bricked the users iPad and now they can't restore.
 
Using iPadOS 13 on my 1st gen iPad Pro 12.9 (2015).

I'm having various issues:
- iBook does not work correctly in split view mode (Extremely laggy as well). It has some bugs where bookmark doesn't work as well.
- OneDrive also has some bug in split view
- OneNote has a bug where if you start it on split view, it will have portion of the menu cut off and not visible.
- certain webpages like Cnet (heavy with scripts) doesn't work very well -- you can get stuck on full screen videos. Don't use full screen
- Overall navigation is a little slower (My iPad is a bit old but it was absolutely fast before this update).

Agreed. I'm currently running it on an iPad that's pretty much setup as new with a dummy account. A few glitches here and there but no showstopper thus far but I still haven't figured out the new gestures for multitasking. Granted, reckon this is only a non-issue because I can easily switch back to another iPad running iOS 12 when something doesn't work as it should.

That said, it does feel kinda like this at times :p:

It’s a beta. Everything works great until it crashes. All the new features are awesome except the ones that are broken. It’s way faster except for when it’s WAY slower.

I always ignore all the good advice and run the betas because I’m a baby and want to play with the new toys, but I don’t NEED my iPad to work great all the time. If thats you, make sure you backed up, and go to town.

Depends how you define stability.

For me, it works, but has many bugs on my 12.9” 2018 Gen 3 iPad Pro.

Here is a short list:

  • Widgets half the time say error loading widget (on Things and Shortcuts which are my 2 pinned widgets)
  • Keyboard shortcuts on Safari never work the first time. Always have to do them twice. On that note, CMD+L never works to select the location bar
  • Many resprings out of nowhere which is frustrating
  • On AirPods, volume randomly shuts off and sound no longer works
The one good thing I have found though is that battery life is absolutely amazing, which is surprising for a beta.
 
Testing out iPadOS on a 5th generation iPad (iPad 5) and it works pretty good. The one thing I noticed is the screen resolution is a lot smaller than what it was on iOS. Not sure how I like that or if there is a way to make the App Icons larger like they are in iOS12. I did test out the Remote Play for the PlayStation and paired a PS4 controller and it worked pretty good. Used it at home and away from home and works fine. I press a button on the controller and it was instant, zero lag. But I do have fiber in my home, so I am sure that helps. I have not really played around with anything else, to be honest I didn't notice much of a difference with Safari. But everything seems good, the menus and everything are fluid, no hesitation with anything. I will play around with it some more over the next few days.

LOL! People have been asking for years for more icons on the iPad homescreen. This shows, no 2 users have the same affinities.

lol. My vision is bad enough as it is, the bigger app icons/screen resolution is better for me. I realize not everyone is like that, and I’m probably the only one, but to me the current form factor of the iPad 5/6 and it’s current resolution is perfect.

For me, apart from Files app while using SMB, it has been stable, no crashes or weird behavior.

I've not had issues with 1Password working on iPadOS, my main issues I've had is app crashes. If I try to remove the Apple Pay iMessage app it crashes and still isn't removed for example.

This is exactly the first thing I thought when I installed it and ran it for the first time. "These app icons are too small. How do I make them bigger? I hope Apple doesn't leave them like this, and gives us the option to change the size."
