On an iPhone if you swipe to bring down the notification center and then swipe left you get the today view widgets. As well as a search field. However on the iPad you don't get the search field. You get the today widgets. The widgets don't take up the full width but are on the left side of the screen as they would appear if you had them on your home page.

WDYT? Is this a bug that I should report or do you think this is how it is designed? I really miss the search field to be able to open up other apps without having to go to the home screen.

Two reports won’t make any change but I hate that design as well. Don’t know why they think hiding/removing search bar is a good idea.

If it’s a bug the number of a reports shouldn’t matter.

The number of reports directly determine whether this is a high priority bug that Apple will fix asap or this is a bug that is not that serious and wont affect too many people.

I'm not sure it's quite as naive a voting algorithm behind the scenes for core functionality. Maybe for feature requests, but core functionality will be on Apple's radar (pun unintended) and development sprints, regardless of how many votes/reports there are. They're not just bouncing around reacting to Feedback for core features.

Actually if you scroll one finger down (not starting from the very, very top) on the right side you can access the search bar. Just discovered this accidentally.

Just swipe down from the home screen. That’s always been how I get to the search bar. No need to swipe to the widgets.

Sure. Doesn't work when in-app though. On iPhone you can pull down notifications and swipe to widgets for Spotlight. You're out of luck on iPad, unless you have a keyboard connected.
