iPad prices for Australia?

Hi I'm Cyrus and I'm new to the forum, first post is going to be about the iPad, I live in Australia and as of yet, there are no confirmed prices for the iPad through the Apple store or anywhere for that matter, there isn't an official release date either, so I was wondering if there's any leaked info towards either of those or if anyone has a rough guess about how much or when we can expect them over here, I remember when I got my 32GB 3GS and it was like AUD$1139 (or roughly somewhere around there), I originally planned on getting and iPhone from the states but the people on eBay think we don't have brains and were selling them for roughly AUD$1500, I've seen international sellers putting the iPad up there for around AUD$1100 (around US$1000) for the 64GB WiFi only model and I really think that's pathetic, is there any website that I could possibly purchase it from for a reasonable price or like I said earlier, is there any leaked prices for Australia?

I would expect Apple to put the maximum price for the 64GB WiFi+3G model at AUD$999 max, anyway I hope someone sheds some light on the topic.

Well, Apple can surely surprise us with a low price, but every item with an Apple Logo on it sold on the AU store and the US store have between a 1.25-1.36x 'markup' (I mean markup including exchange, import taxes, GST etc). And all iPods average out to 1.31, pro machines are at the pricey end, and mass market machines are towards the bottom of that range.

64 3G+WiFi is gonna be 829*1.31 ~ 1086 ~ $1099 is my call.

These are just guesses though, so tell me what you think, oh yeah and how are the ipads?

I find it funny how they have on the apple australia home page "A Magical and Revolutionary product at an unbelievable price" but haven't released the prices yet...

How can they say its unbelievable without putting the prices up???
I would expect that the prices for the iPad in australia are about $800 for the 16GB WiFi only ipad and about $1000 for the 16GB WiFi & 3G
Which to me if they are at those prices aren't that unbelievable.

I guess we will have to wait and see. I'm hoping its cheaper then what i think it will be.

i was thinking roughly around the same mark as you did. mine was about $699 for 16GB iPad. i dont think apple will get any consumer demand for anything above that range for 16GB iPad.
