The new iPad Pro 10.5” 64 GB has finally got a decent sale price at Best Buy Canada at CAD$599.99 new. That’s a little over US$455.

256 GB model also on sale but at $849.99.

Yes it does work with external drives in the Files app in iPadOS 13. The main drawback is it requires that Apple Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter, with external power. The 2018 USB-C models work natively without an adapter and don’t necessarily need external power to run an external drive.

EDIT:

Also $549.95 at The Source. Sold out online at thesource.ca, but some physical stores have stock.

256 GB model CAD$749.95 (US$572).

Meh, the deal sucks for an older model imo. I got a brand new 11" pro for $800 on Kijiji.
I never understand the point of these posts. Yeah, you can always buy cheaper for a USED product with incomplete warranty, no credit card extended warranty, and no return policy. BTW, the 10.5" Pro from Kijiji would be MUCH cheaper in that scenario.

This confuses me a lot. I’m pretty sure Apple didn’t launch a new 10.5” iPad Pro, but definitely a 10.5” iPad Air.

@EugW did you mean A new iPad Pro 10.5” as opposed to The new iPad Pro 10.5” or are you referring to The new iPad Air 10.5”?
I just meant it's not refurbished. When you buy an Apple refurbished, it comes in a box that says refurbished, and IIRC the receipt says refurbished too. Some credit cards won't offer extended warranty on refurbished products. The Best Buy deal is for new product. Old stock and discontinued, but new-in-box nonetheless.

I personally bought an Apple refurbished one many moons ago, but luckily my Amex will provide extended warranty for factory refurbished products, so I have warranty until spring 2021. (AFAIK, no credit cards will provide extended warranty on 3rd party refurbished products, but that's for a good reason. A lot of those 3rd party refurbished products are essentially just used.)

Best Buy also lists a lot of refurb iPad Pros, and I'm not talking about those.

Thanks for the explanation :)

Well, maybe you have a different perspective, but in the end, I'm looking at how much I'm paying for something. As I mentioned, and you even quoted, it was for a brand new one, not used. Warranty is not incomplete, and began on the day I bought it and set it up. It is still eligible for extended Applecare if I wanted that. Don't need anything beyond that as I typically upgrade to every new model.

Apart from that, iPads are a lot cheaper in the US. The 11" has been down to 650 US or even less I think. Walmart was clearing out the 10.5/64 for $299 US a little while back. I'm planning on buying a 12.9" and I'll get it when its on sale next in the states.
