So I have a launch day 10.5” iPP and when I got it I noticed it was relatively easy with a small amount of pressure on the bezel (the side with the home button) that it would affect the display, as is normal with most devices. Now, recently I’ve noticed it’s even easier to do, and the display has these same artefacts even when I go to press the home button, which I feel isn’t right/normal. I don’t want to damage my display potentially by using the home button.

So, today I had an appointment at the Apple Store to get them to check this. The genius I got said he hadn’t really seen this and so got the lead technician to have a look. Eventually, they compared to demo units in the store to see if the same issue was apparent. The genius then said that it’s happening on them but not to the extent mine is doing it, but did say that this could be a normal trait of the 10.5” iPP.

He did opt out of abundance of caution to offer me a replacement model of the same iPad Pro, which I will have to wait on as they didn’t have any in store to give me there and then. Then I’ll do a swap.

Now, the question(s) to you all: Have you noticed this issue/similar issue on your iPad Pro, and to what extent is the issue manifesting itself in?

Very common with laminated screen on the Pro. They all do that to varying degrees. Always near the home button. Mine did that too. If it disappears after pressing, I wouldn’t worry about it.

Fair enough although I don’t remember seeing it on the previous 9.7” iPP that I had. I also feel like it’s something that shouldn’t happen when pressing the home button as it makes the product seem cheaply made which isn’t like Apple.

I agree, a little bit of an annoyance. It looks like there was no way to fully avoid it with a laminated display.
