Ok I'll keep this short.

I already have a 2016 15" MBP w/ Touch Bar that I love and use daily, and I DO NOT want to replace it as my main computing device. It's got a beautiful screen and awesome keyboard. I love it and am not looking to replace it.

I will use my iPad as mainly consumption device AT HOME. I don't travel much and I'm a homebody so I prefer to use my iPad for big-screen internet, Youtube, music, and drawing when away from my MacBook Pro. I'm not a photographer or a graphic design artist. The iPad is merely a beautiful big-screen toy for me to interact with when I don't wanna type.

Which is the best for me? 10.5 or 12.9?

Please help me decide. Thanks guys!

I I have the 10.5 and macbook pro touch bar.

Think it's personally the best possible combo with my iphone x as well. Felt 12.9 and macbook pro kind of what a waste

I have a 15” MBP and a 12.9” iPad. My reason for getting the bigger model was to see how the larger size worked for my app development (my upcoming game looks great on it). Other possible reasons are video and drawing, both of which you do. Reasons for the small screen are portability (which isn’t important to you) and cost.

Both are great devices, you’ll be happy with either, but your use points towards 12.9.

Sounds like the 10.5 is better fit for you. 12.9 size is better for art and more suitable for a computer replacement, but for mostly consumption and occasional drawing 12.9in is overkill and you might find it unwieldy. 10.5 is the perfect balance I think. 9.7 was way too small.

10.5 is better for laying in bed. 12.9 is more of a table / couch setup. 12.9 is better from viewing farther away. Buy both. Just kidding

Looks like a duplicate thread...so posting my response here as well.

I've highlighted the key words in your post to show why I'm recommending...

12.9 Pro, without any hesitation.

For the things that you said you'll use it for, nothing beats the 12.9 Pro. If money is an issue, then I agree with the recommendations to get the basic 2017 iPad.

Get the 10.5. I have the 12.9 and I regret it at times, however I love the size for drawing in Procreate because I’m able to use multiview. I own the MacBook Pro 13-inch 2013 edition and want to get the 15-inch with touch one day. Wait for the new iPads this summer, hopefully there will be a smaller sized 12.9 or something in between.
