I am feeling like the Pro is a better choice for me instead of the new Air, but I am only worried about the mentioned white spots. Any idea if that is fixed if I get a refurbished model?

Btw, someone have seen a Geekbench of Pro 10.5 vs new Air (I think some of them are already rolling into YouTube) is it very diferent?

The things are pulling me to the Pro is the 120hz and the 4 speakers

Never had an iPad.

I never had an iPad either before my current iPad that I bought this year. The 4 speakers makes the device seem very premium, and they get very loud! Also, the 120hz display is incredible probably one of the best features! These are the same two features why everyone else is buying the pro 2nd gen over the new iPad air too.

I wouldn’t let the screen worry you. Check it out real good and enjoy it. Doesn’t it have a 1 year warranty too?

Nope, refurbished iPads can have a wide array of problems (as with any refurbished device) whether the speakers go bad, touch ID, touch input on screen, white spots, light leakage, etc.

Nobody (outside of Apple) knows if the white spot issue has been fixed or not.

But, like you, I thought the Pro made much more sense than the Air, particularly since the Pros are so much cheaper now than they used to be.

I bought the Pro. It should be noted though that I get an extra year of warranty through my credit card though.

FWIW, I bought a MacBook 2017 with the dreaded keyboard issues. Well, so far it's still good.

Reactions: Newtons Apple
the iPad Pro 2nd gen and iPad Pro 3rd gen both have a similar 120Hz panel. Although, they have different part numbers. Maybe they refurbish the iPad Pro 2nd gens with the updated manufacturers display? Who knows! I’d still buy one.

We have no idea if Apple has done this here, but Apple does alter the manufacturing process or components during production runs as necessary. They will also sometimes fix older machines with updated parts if it's an actual repair.

However, your post was a little vague. If you're asking if they would put a 3rd gen screen in a 2nd gen iPad Pro, the answer is no, because they are different sizes.

Apple certified refurbished has always been great for me, I've only had one device that I would count as DOA (iPhone X unexpected restarts, would stay at 1% for hours and lagged a lot) and it was a simple exchange, replacement has been great.

On the other hand, I did notice a white spot where others have on my 10.5in Pro, October 2018 manufacture date. I wouldn't say that's and issue with the refurb process though, as it could have happened to a brand new one. Exchanged yesterday within the 14 days and the new one is great, Feb 2019 manufacture date.

What led me to exchange instead of add the money for an 11" Pro is simply the fact I could have another iPad 2018/Mini for the same amount, and the features I want from the 11" are also in the 10.5" Pro. Same as you, I feel the 10.5in Pro is overall better value than the Air.

Apple has a detailled process on what they do during the refurb manufacturing process on the refurb section of the site. If you click on a product and scroll down there's a link that more info about what actually happens during that process, under 'rigorous refurbishment process'
