I’ve got a iPad Pro 10.5” that all of the sudden won’t turn or do anything. I’ve tried to get it into DFU mode but it won’t even do that. It’s basically a black screen even though it plugged into a charger and won’t do anything.

I don’t think one of these local iPhone repair shops would repair this because there’s no physical damage anywhere And I’m trying to figure put the best approach to diagnosing a ipad in this condition. I looked at Apples repair cost and it was like $449 which would be worth more that the iPad so that doesn’t seem like a good option.

Ideas?

Sounds more like a software issue than hardware. Not for nothing have you checked the apple connector to make sure there is not dirt or lint preventing contact?

Do you have a computer to use to set it into dfu mode

Yes I do have a 27” iMac and have tried to get it into DFU mode but NOTHING happens when I press the buttons to try and get it into DFU mode.

And I don’t care about saving anything on this iPad as I’m just wanting to reset it back to factory condition.

Try turning the device off when trying it this way:
Try DFU Mode:
  1. Plug your device into your computer.
  2. Turn off the device.
  3. Hold the Power button for 3 seconds
  4. Hold the Home button without releasing the Power button for 10 seconds
  5. Release the Power Button but keep holding the Home button
  6. Keep holding the Home button until you are alerted by iTunes saying that it has detected a device in Recovery Mode
NOTE: Make sure the device screen is blank and no logos are present. Be patient, it make take several trys.

As far as I know it’s powered off because there’s nothing but a black screen.

I’ll give this a try later today and report back.

That is the method I’ve tried before but will make it to follow them properly. ??
