Contemplating getting a battery replacement for my old Pro 10.5 its served me well, but the battery has surely gotten worse over time. 5-6 hours of SOT average with regular video watching. I don't have a way of seeing the capacity as I'm on windows and 3Utools has not been working correct recently. Now question is how does the process work if any of you recently did something like this with covid and everything, my apple stores when I try to request a battery repair just show "Best Buy Covid process" ive also heard with iPads they usually just give you a refurbished one, I'd be fine with that.

They will replace it with a refurbished one, usually before you even send it in they will do an online diagnostic of your device. Surprised they didn’t inspect your device when you contacted them.

Does coconut battery work?

You can also try iMazing, I believe it has a batter test function in it that is on par with Coconut battery. Then you can see according to what it says if its time to change it through Apple.

3UTools used to work for me though I now question whether the battery capacity was ever accurate. iMazing is paid I think for battery info. I'm too invested in steam to switch to a mac ;p

Backpaddling to what Natzoo said I actually cancelled my original "Best Buy covid process reservation" and instead talked to support which set me up at a actual Apple store which il visit next weekend. They ran a diagnostics over chat and said I had 94% capacity... definitely does not feel like it especially after using it for so long it would make sense for it to naturally go down way more than that. When 3UTools worked a year ago It reported me having 92% capacity and it definitely felt a bit worn... few months later i checked again and it was at 88%. I hope they still allow me to exchange it for the fee... if not my Plan B is to just trade it in for a iPad 8th gen... A12 is the only positive of that thing which would at least be more power efficient and give me updates. I can live without the 120hz especially since iPhones seem like they will never get it...gave up on waiting for that lol. I'l update you guys on how it goes in a week or so.

If battery life isn’t under 80%, they’re not going to replace it.
