I still use an iPad Pro 10.5 which came out in 2017. It's updated to ipad os 15.5 and is reasonably smooth. I'm looking for a lightning to HDMI adapter mainly to make PowerPoint presentations in college. Will 3rd party cables work? Most are not cheap. So I just want to check before buying it.

Major brands like Belkin, etc. should be fine but the Chinese unbranded ones can be hit or miss. Some work, some would show an accesory not supported message.

After buying a bunch of stuff that don’t work, I’ve learned my lesson and only buy either genuine Apple or MFi-certified products from trusted brands.

This is a case where the old adage applies: Buy cheap, buy twice.

Thanks for the reply. It’s hard to get genuine apple accessories for 2017 model right now. Can you please share some reliable brands outside belKin? Can’t find belkin lightning to hdmi in my place. Most of the ‘cheap‘ Chinese models are not so cheap. So I don’t want to take a chance and waste money.

Well, in any case the one available from Apple will work with your iPP.

Only buy Apple, don't buy on ebay etc. They have never worked for me (if they are not from Apple)
