There’s No Such thing as HDR, it’s all made up BS.
The actual industry wide Spec is HDR10.
Basically brighter brights and darker darks, and punchier colors.

Here’s the real Spec. Which is a little out of date, because new standards allow for Dynamic HDR10 which allows Light levels in a scene to shift in real time and maintain HDR10 standards. Like going from inside a cave and walking into daylight can go from blinding, and gradually normalize.

It’s common knowledge that whenever someone says HDR. They are talking about HDR 10.

Google keep changing things in the youtube app. Sometimes there’s an option to stream at 1440p and then they update the app and it goes away. It’s jusy google being inconsistent.

I think they want you to subscribe to YouTube red to get pip, well at least on android that’s how you get it. YouTube red finally came to the uk and I subscribed and I still can’t do pip on my iPhone or iPads.

I think they are probably just keeping features back for android.
Stopped using the native application and use YouTube Vanced on all my devices. Infinitely superior. Resolution also is not an issue as 2160P/1440P can be forcibly enabled on all devices. No root access required.

Where can I get that app?
Thanks

Sorry I didn't mention that YouTube Vanced is for Android. But the issue of 1440P sometimes not appearing as an option definitely does happen on some devices or software versions. No longer a problem with Vanced. If you happen to have any Android devices, I recommend giving it a try. If you search it up, it'll be the top results. You can download the latest version off their website instead of XDA. It also includes a whole plethora of advanced useful features and incorporates almost everything in YouTube Red.

As for instructions, it's as simple as downloading and installing the application. You'll just have to grant your browser permission to install, and you'd be prompted for that much. If you want to sign into your Google Account, you also need to install MicroG which is also available on their website. Once installed, I'd disable the stock YouTube application to avoid battery drain and double notifications.

I hate to be that guy, but... how is an Android app relevant to an iPad discussion?

Well Android was mentioned, so I thought I'd explain YouTube Vanced. Not everyone has devices solely in one ecosystem, so it's good to know. Plenty of people swear by iPad's for tablets while still using Android on other devices, for instance.

Plus I wanted to highlight that the inconsistency of 1440P options not existing on some devices and software versions also exists with Android devices. I personally can relate to that issue, and there's a solution in the form of Vanced. I found it extremely useful.
