10th gen will be supported longer, but is an Air 4 refurb an option? What are you planning to do with it anyway?

Go for the Pro unless the lower storage is likely to be a major issue (consider iCloud or other options) or you really must have the landscape camera. It might be older, but it’s by far the better device, and essentially the same as the current 4th gen. Pro apart from the upgraded SoC and the Pencil hover feature.

There’s a comparison of the 3rd gen. Pro, 10th gen. iPad, and 4th gen. Pro here-
https://www.apple.com/uk/ipad/compa...-11-3rd-gen,ipad-10th-gen,ipad-pro-11-4th-gen

The M1 processor is far more powerful than the A14 and has double the RAM.

I purchased a three-month-old 256GB 3rd gen. Pro 11 off eBay recently for less than the price of a new base model 64GB 10th gen. iPad. There are some good deals around if you're prepared to put in a bit of work, but not everyone wants to buy off eBay. A previous purchase turned out to be stolen!

The prices on Apple's refurb store aren't too bad because the discounts are based on the old retail prices, and they went up considerably when Apple launched the 4th gen. Pro. You can also get an extra bit of cashback on refurbished products by going through Quidco or TopCashback.

Get at least 256GB if you get a pro so the storage can be used as virutal memory. Don't be scared to buy used. There's a lot of great deals on M1 iPad pros since the M2 model came out. I got a 1TB 11" 3rd gen pro for $830 and it's flawless and the battery health is 100%. A lot of people buy iPads and don't use them much and stick with their desktop.

128GB M1 and M2 iPad Pros support swap.

It's just the Air 5 that requires 256GB since the base model only has 64GB.

The 10th gen isn’t a bad device price aside, however I would go with the iPad Pro. It’s the better device and has better features.

iPad Pro 11 3rd Gen is certainly more advanced option. On the long run, from reparability aspect it's worth taking for consideration the cost of repair of such a variant could be considerably more expensive, especially if you are unfortunate to damage the display or need a logic board replacement. iPad 10th Gen is a classic base model, good all rounder and slightly newer I believe so it has a longer software update support.

I picked up a 2nd gen 11 refurb and it is excellent. Also have Air M1 but performance difference hardly noticeable for me, also screen seems to be quite a lot better than air, and speakers of course. I am keeping it as a backup but prefer it to the air with FaceID etc and has 4 times the storage. M1 Pro would have been better but cost more than my Air for not that much difference, the 2nd gen which I think still has 6gb ram is really nice and a good deal due to its older chip.
