I couldn't find a thread related to this issue. If there is one please point it out to me.

I was hoping that the latest 12.1.1 will fix the keyboard layout on the new Pro but nooooo...
I am talking about the changed position of the punctuation/numeric button with the emoji/languages button. I am also not a fan of the additional buttons but can live with those.
It almost makes me think that apple is keeping it like that to force more people get the folio keyboard...
On my 10.5 pro it got fixed with 12.0.1 I believe....
This $1000 iPad is giving me a lot of headaches because of those small issues which kill productivity and efficiency. Along with the touch sensitivity when a protector is applied to the screen.

I know Gboard is an option but not a fan of it.

What do you guys/gals think?

apple isnt forcing anyone to buy the folio keyboard . the virtual keyboard is fine for the majority of users. i wish we had split keyboard on the new pros like the 10.5 did .

Each to their own. Typing for most of people is muscle memory so switching a very important key which enables punctuation and languages is extremely annoying. Especially when both are used on regular basis. It doesn't make any sense why on every other iOS device it is the way it has been but not on the new PROs.

Didn't really used the split much but I can totally see that being an issue for people who did.

Its the same on the 12.9, so they are likely matching that due to screen increase, so as you say, with muscle memory you will get used to it and it will become second nature in time.
