  1. 100% battery
  2. 50% screen brightness
  3. Bluetooth off
  4. No other background apps

SimCity buildit, lasted 6 hours 35 mins, went down to 5%.
Tested a few times, same results, all under 7 hours.

Had an Air 2 and Mini 4, same game, both lasted more than 8 hours.

HOW come the more powerful and energy effect M series chip iPad lasts less than A series chip iPad.

  • Insufficient optimisation due to its a very old game (released in 2015)?
  • SimCity requires significant amount of CPU resources ?

If you're a bit more energy efficient but much more powerful you'll drain the battery faster. Perhaps it's rendering more frames on the iPad Pro? Or, if it's not doing more work, perhaps something is preventing the processor cores from sleeping between calculating two frames. There might not be enough time to go into a low-power state. Just speculating, there are several possible explanations but I'm not sure on this one.

The game seems to be receiving regular updates. When was the last time you played it on an Air 2 or mini 4?

Also, how do graphics compare between M2 iPP 11 and Air 2/mini 4?

I know when I upgrade gaming PCs, I don’t do it to lower energy consumption while sticking to low settings. I do it so I can turn on the eye candy and play newer, more demanding titles.

maybe 3 years ago on those 2 devices before sold them, I just leave the power cable plug in while playing this game now.

Meanwhile the game I play would only last 2 hours max with maxed out setting and everything.
Idk how demanding that game is since I never played it.
My solution is either Charging it while playing it or carrying a power bank everywhere I go.

Lol, this is me with the Asus ROG Ally. Thankfully, there’s plenty of USB-C chargers around the house.

Maybe because it runs at 120hz and higher graphics setting.

And the M2 is an iPad chip in the end. So not sure why you expect much better efficiency when iPads already had this.
