Hi everyone!

I haven't found threads in which talks about charging times, since the port is now USB-C? Are charging times a lot faster than the older iPads? Of course, I have an Anker 60W PD charger laying around in which I use it for my iPhone XS Max to charge. I think that is one of the factors in which I can switch to the new iPads.

Please let me know your thoughts!

They charge fast using a genuine Apple cable (a must) and a USB-C 29W (now 30W I believe) Apple charger. Maybe 50% in 30 minutes? The charger isn’t critical as long as it supports PD, but the cable apparently is. But I do not believe USB-C is any faster than the lightning as far as just the connectors go.

Can someone confirm this? Cause that would be a lifesaver and would use it as my daily!

OK, I just tested my Gen 1 12.9” Pro. I started at 44%, in 13 minutes it gained 11% and in 35 minutes (total) it had gained 28%. That’s a pretty quick charge especially on an older device. I used a 29W Apple charger and an Apple USB-C to Lightning cable.

Hmmm interesting right there. Still a good charging though. I mean I’d hope that since these are large battery capacities, that it speeds up the time.

I thought i heard somewhere that it charges VERY fast using the Nintendo switch charger.

I still want to give this a try at some point.

This works, I use my Switch charger a few times per week now. At night I use my standard 18 watt charger.

So I just tested out the charging speeds using my omnicharge Omni USB-C and a regular USB-C cable (not apple). The Omnicharge has an oled that displays various metrics like power output. My 2018 12.9 ipad was charging at about 36W-37W most of the way, which is a significant jump from my 10.5 inch ipad. The 10.5 inch would regularly draw about 22-24w of power.

Just from feel. the overall charging speed seemed rather good, but i did not time it. All I know is that the power draw is much greater than previous gen ipads.

They take forever to charge using the included power supply. If you own a Nintendo Switch, plug your iPad in to it. It’ll charge much faster.

I have charged my 1TB iPad Pro at least 10+ times on a Nintendo Switch charger.

I’ve experienced no degradation at all.
