Wondering what most people went for and why with the 2020.... leaning towards the 11 due to portability.

Am doing it the other way. Used 12.9'' the past 2 versions and switching to 11 now due to the portability. OP, it's a very personal choice.

I still have the 2018 but went 12.9 and would go bigger if they made it. How nice would it be to have the 16” display portable. It’s really thin and light even with the keyboard option. 11 is smaller and lighter but 12.9 is not bulky. Like Itinj24 said, the screen will feel smaller over time. If you want portable get a Mini too, I have the recent version and use it like a phone a lot of times.

I have both.

12.9-inch is mostly used on a desk. With a keyboard case, it's effectively as bulky as MacBook Air, but because it isn't as "lappable" on the couch, it's generally bound to a fixed location. It's also too heavy to be handheld for extended period.

11-inch is what most of my family members reach for. While the screen isn't as immersive, and it isn't well suited for running two apps in split screen, it's plenty fine for full screen experience.

I have had nearly all models since original. Use prior 9.7 IPP in home, 10.5" IPP for travel and 12.9 IPP for more work, bigger travel needs.

If you want portability and it doesn't have to be a more laptop replacement - mostly about screen real estate, then 11" is best. 12.9" today just give you that much more real estate. I'm waiting to try the new MKB with the 12.9 and pencil to see if this can really be something I can take ONLY on work travel. (assuming we all EVER travel again)

I’m ready for the new keyboard too. I really do like my current keyboard and use it daily but the updates are going to be fantastic. I think.
