iPad Pro iPad Pro 11” or wait for october

We just had a similar discussion on this forum. I believe there won’t be a new iPad Pro this year. They seem to be on a 18ish months cycle.
I feel like the Only thing Apple could add to the 2019 iPad Pro in October is OLED 4K HDR Display.
That would make me need it. And it’s possible.
It's regularly on sale for $150+ off on Amazon and other authorized retailers. Buy it at the next sale. I can't really think of a single improvement that this device needs to be good. I've had every iPad except the 10.5" pro and I've never felt more content with one than I do the 11" right now. I'll probably keep this one for a few years because it's such a perfect device.
Keep your iPP 9.7" unless it's not doing something you want and/or need.
I have that model and there's literally nothing I find it lacking in.
It's been a phenomenal piece of hardware, and continues to be so.
At this point, you might as well wait - never know what this Apple might do these days.

We've predicted and known in advance about almost nothing they've changed over time about iPad hardware.

I also have a 9.7 Pro and use it only for reading novels. I had been debating and i saw a deal on Amazon this AM for 650 for the 11" version (64GB). I finally ordered it arriving tomorrow and I will get a keyboard folio later today (I work two blocks from an Apple store). I am super excited!

Macs also have smooth cursors and are not 120hz
Then I’d suggest never upgrading to a 120Hz iPad. Once you get use to that 120Hz refresh rate, everything else will feel really slow and laggy because it really is. You just don’t realize it yet.
I was in a different boat - I never owned an iPad, and this year wanted to take the plunge. I looked at the Pros, but descided on the Air3 as my first iPad. I figured that I'll develop my workflow in this, and when Apple updates their Pros, I'll go for whatever the new 11" is. What I like about the Air compared to the Pro - is weight. I realize that this is meaningless to most, but sorry, to me light weight is super important. When I hold it while reading, every single ounce counts - but that's me, and you might be different. But I'm very, very pleased by how light the Air is, and would not appreciate the heavier Pro. To each his own I guess.

There is only a 12 gram difference between the Air and 11” Pro
12 grams is the weight of a single AAA battery
I’m a huge huge fan for lightweight, but even I would struggle to really call this a meaningful difference

The iPad Air 3 weights (464) grams.
The iPad Pro 11” weights (468) grams.
4 gram difference is probably indiscernible.

Personally, I’d like to get tablet UI instead of phone UI in split view landscape.
The 2018 Pro’s got great hardware for sure. With my usage though, it doesn’t really do anything that my current iPad doesn’t.

As mentioned, there probably won't be a new model until next year. Buy the 2018 Pro 11 now or keep your 2016 Pro 9.7. Whatever makes you happy.
