I love the new iPad Pro 11”. Mostly. In the first couple of days I’ve been using it I was in awe of the buttonless screen and appreciated the how cool the new design feels in my hand. I’ve noticed a couple of things that have acted as little signals, saying “this is not the same as your last iPad”.
Face ID is nice when the iPad is in my hand or on a stand. But I actually use it flat on the floor or the bed or a desk quite a lot, and so I’ve either had to tilt it up to unlock, or use the passcode. Bit annoying.
Today I put it flat on my desk to type a quick email and the damn camera makes the whole thing wobble. It’s so annoying! You can see that this is absolutely designed to be used with a keyboard.
It’s definitely a transitional item. Too pro to be a fun iPad and too iPad to be a serious laptop. Not this, and not yet that. I’m curious about how I’m going to get on with it.
Have others felt the ‘in between-ness’ of this release?
