Yeah, so I am just days away from either buying an iPad Pro 11” or an iPad Pro 12.9”. I haven’t decided on either yet. I had the 12.9” before and was happy with the speakers, but my bad habits caused me to sell it. I then recently picked up an Air 4, but the speakers just were ruining the experience for me. For movies and TV it seemed mostly adequate, but music sounded way too low with little to no bass.

So, my question is this: Do the iPP 11” and 12.9” share the same speaker set up or does the 12.9” outshine it in that regard? Because that is a huge selling point for me and one of the main reasons I sent the Air 4 back. I need the best speakers I can get on an iPP.

Thanks for the help.

Going by some YouTube reviews the 2021 12.9 pro speakers do sound much better & louder then the 2021 11" pro by a fair bit.

speaker test at 6 minutes 7 seconds

Have both. hubby has the 11 and I have the12.9 The 12.9 has, by a very large margin, much better speakers. I won’t even go into the display differences!

A very large margin? That’s unfortunate. I liked the form factor of my Air 4, so I figured the 11” would be sufficient. But I do want the best speakers I can get.

Ancillary question, how do the 2020 vs 2021 12.9” speakers compare?

Also, I am assuming even though the 2021 12.9” speakers are better than the 11”, the 11” is much better than say the speakers on the Air 4, correct?

I would love to konw this too. I have a 12.9 and the speakers really are great. Apple's website leads you to believe the 11 pro and the 12.9 have the same speakers. Would love to know how they compare to the air.

Old thread but whatever, I’ll comment anyway. I have a 9.7-inch iPad Pro which should be similar to the 11-inch, as far as I’ve read (my latest iPad Air 5’s speakers are neither great nor comparable). I tried out a 3rd-gen 12.9-inch iPad Pro’s speakers and the most glaring thing I noticed was that separation was far better and made quite a significant difference. In volume and quality, they sounded quite similar.

As far as I know, the speakers are the same. But the 12.9 has a larger internal cavity and are farther apart, causing the better sound. So...physics is the difference.
