My sons iPad Pro has had an issue for a while now, not sure when it started or if it was a particular firmware version that caused it. When he charges it overnight, in the morning it shows as dead battery and then wont power on, if he plugs the power cord in a few times eventually it powers back on and shows 100%. Is this a well known issue? Is it hardware or software? I've searched forums and see that there are lots of people facing this issue but didn't see a cause. The battery seems fine and holds a charge so seems like some kind of bug where the software thinks the battery is dead for some reason.
Hes had the iPad for 20 month, but don't expect a hardware failure this early, I am also not covered by Apple under UK consumer law as I purchased it from Tesco Direct.

It does sound a bit like a hardware issue. I have an iPad Pro myself and reports about battery issues are rare on Macrumors.

Have Apple have a look at it and if it’s broken talk to Tesco as they should be the liable party with UK consumer law.
