The display shows 3-4 slight blue circular spots. Clearly visible in white background like in notes app. Here it is on Apple support page and visible.

White dot has usually been a pressure point with previous models. Curious to find out what causes blue dots. Since you're exchanging it anyway try flexing it a little to see if it changes which would indicate pressure point otherwise it may be the LEDs or one of the LCD layers.

Return it, we are Not Apple massive public Beta test, as their local dimming algorithm.

the XDR iPad Pro 12.9” so far

#1. Has blooming issues
#2. has a corner edge shadow issue that would other wise be ground for a return or exchange is now being called normal. Talk about operant conditioning.
#3. Thunderbolt 3 port is transferring data at USB 3.0 speeds
#4. Uses an outdated 8-bit Display (I was expecting 10-bit)
#5. Weighs more than a MacBook Air
#6. Its thicker than a snicker
#7. M1 Benchmarks are the worst of all the M1 devices.
#8. Only offers deeper blacks, not Improvements to Color Gamut

tell me I’m wrong.

Just a question. How we knows this is a 8-bit display?

#1. Yes, I see the blooming when I really look for it. Still less blooming than I get from my old tired chronically dry eyes and glasses.

#2. That’s a limitation of the display technology. At least it’s uniform and looks more like some UI effect as a result. It’s not optimal, but I can live with it. Maybe they should have made a version of the M1 12.9 with just a standard LCD for those who need the extra screen real estate, but don’t want the problems that come with the mini LED technology.

#3. I don’t transfer data via USB, so it’s a non-issue where I’m concerned.

#4. My workflow doesn’t require 10 bit. Colors still look great. That’s what matters to me.

#5. Maybe, but I can’t mount a MacBook in my simpit because the keyboard would get in the way of my stick and I can’t plot my course and jot down notes on the screen with the pencil while I try to navigate a Spitfire through enemy territory.

#6. I don’t mind curves. Heck, my PC is outright chubby due to the motherboard being horizontally mounted.

#7. As is should be since it’s a passively cooled mobile device. I’ve seen a YouTube video that shows it trading blows with the actively cooled MacBook Pro though. Strange

#8. Yeah, it’s a bummer they left out stygian, self-luminous and hyperbolic colors. Maybe next year.

Are you wrong? Nah, you bring up some good points and I’m sure they’re important to you and it’s your money. Doesn’t change the fact that I’m seriously impressed coming from a 1st gen 2015 12.9”. Maybe I would feel differently if I came from a 2018/2020 model.

Well on giving pressure it fades away but returned after 2-3 seconds. Anyway I returned it.
