Alright guys day 1 battery life after I got off work around 3 pm I slammed this thing all evening just doing my normal stuff really.
My settings were as follows
Brightness: Auto (never went above 50%)
Spotlight: disabled for all apps
Background app refresh: Disabled for all apps (what does it do other then drain battery)
Location services: Ad ones off as well but find iPad, compass, and another one time zone.
Siri: off
Touch ID: on

UPDATE
: Updated the photo as I stayed up later than I originally planned
Conclusion
I'm very impressed with the longevity of the battery so far it's gotten me through a day and honestly I don't believe I'll be needing that USB C fast charge since it looks as though I'll only be charging it overnight.

How are you enjoying swift playgrounds? Do you use it for learning or just playing?

I was bored and tried it today. Its a fun little app I like how I'm learning the fundamentals but also playing the game. I'm trying to learn although I'm not entirely sure if I'll retain much, what I'm waiting for Apple to add is a nice xCode for iOS so I can actually do some coding for apps. I'd hate for my knowledge to go to waste. I don't have a Mac anymore

Keep in mind that those who are complaining about the 12.9 needing the USB-C adapter to charge while using are usually those who have the brightness on full. I keep most of the options you listed turned on and my brightness at around 60% (10/16 bars on the brightness indicator), and if plugged in while using, it stays topped off at 100%. And when using away from the charger, it will last 8 hours easy.
