iPad Pro iPad Pro 12.9 64GB vs iPad Pro 11 256Gb

I have the opportunity to buy either an iPad Pro 12.9 64GB WiFi + 4G model or an iPad Pro 11 256GB WiFi for £730 but I just don't know which one to pick. Size isn't a factor for me, as I've tried both and I like them equally.

As a student I'm planning on carrying this around as my day to day device (so that I can keep my ageing MacBook Pro 2015 at home), where practically speaking the 11" would be easier to carry but the cellular on the 12.9" would also be helpful. I've struggled with 64GB on my iPhone X however I store most of my photos and videos here, whereas on the iPad I'll mainly just have school apps plus a few consumption apps. I'm completely torn because the larger size and cellular seems appealing for a lot of situations but unwieldy or others, but the high storage and compactness on the 11" is also extremely appealing since I'm aiming to keep this device for many years and do a lot of travelling / studying. From what I've said, which would you choose in my position?

pros: larger display (2 full apps in multitasking looks amazing), cellular, larger Smart Keyboard
cons: size at times, extremely slow charging, much less storage

11"
pros: compact size, much larger storage, better charging times (important for me)
cons: no cellular, smaller Smart Keyboard, compromised multitasking

You already pointed out size doesn’t matter, so go with the cheaper of the two.

You pointed out that storage doesn’t really matter, so go with the cheapest option (64GB).

And you know LTE would be beneficial. So go with LTE.

Going for the 11" 64GB Cellular would cost me over £800 which is not what I'm planning on spending (as I would also like to buy a Pencil and Smart Keyboard) - it's hard because the LTE is a probable situation but I feel as though in a year or two I might need more storage.

Are you buying used, or on some particular sale? If it’s locked entirely to the two models for that exact price, then the 12.9” LTE model is the obvious choice of the two, based on the perspective of LTE being the only thing you mentioned as actually being valuable to you.

Have you also explored whether or not the iPad Pro is actually needed? The Air has a Smart Keyboard as well, and there’s also the older 10.5” pro.

I own a iPad Pro 11” cellular model. I have the att $29 data plan on it. It would be seriously difficult to go for a WiFi only iPad. But, I have very limited home internet options, and slow WiFi so that also has something to do with needing cellular.

So, I’d say 12.9” cellular 64GB any day.

I could care less about screen size. The 11” iPad Pro is more than enough, and the 12.9” iPad is nice too. It doesn’t matter to me. Storage size? And cellular capabilities?

So is 730 like a particularly good deal? Is it brand new? If so, buy the 12.9 because it is the one worth more monetarily. Then sell it and buy an 11" 256 GB LTE. I don't know about pounds, but I'm pretty sure a 12.9 64 LTE costs about the same as an 11 256 LTE, right? Maybe even less? (sorry, too lazy to go to apple.com haha)

Other. For the 12.9 there is no point to have the cellular version since it's too big to be brought out. The sweet spot should be 11-inch 256 cellular if you need to bring it out.

Well, some people need cellular. I have satellite home internet and it averages 1 mbps download and 0.1mbps upload speed. It is the crappiest internet in the world, and the only option too. Luckily I have a cellular iPad with att prepaid, and I can download all the data I want with LTE and it never throttles, with speeds around 70-100+ mbps.

Go for the 12.9, I started of on a 11" 64Gb Wifi, but missed the cellular and had 1TB envy, so picked up a 1TB 12.9, sold my 11" missed the 11" so got another 11 but this time LTE. My wife has a 12.9" 256 LTE with the keyboard, the keyboard feels better than my old keyboard on the 10.5 and 12.9 2nd gen pros.

I have both 11 and 12.9 and I use the 12.9" all the time, prefer the larger screen and I also use mine when I am on the move as a 2nd screen connected to my 12" macbook. I may as well sell my 11" as I have not used it since getting it and setting it up.

Thanks for all the responses. I was lucky and able to purchase an 11” with 256GB and cellular for £800 new which is my perfect combination for price - let me just say that my experience with it so far has been incredible. As a student it is portable enough for me to carry everywhere (and extremely convenient as I have nearly all of my required books on the iPad instead of having to carry each individual one).The 11” size is more than enough to complement my MacBook Pro and I love the typing experience of the Smart Keyboard. Although I haven’t activated a sim on it yet (as free WiFi is everywhere in London), when I do it’ll make the experience even better. I am worried however about bending and touch issues (haven’t experienced either yet).

I’m just impressed by how good the Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil are. Surprisingly, ProMotion hasn’t made that much of an impression on me and I think I’d be fine without it. Even the cameras on this thing are impressive. Apple really nailed it this time - my only suggestion would be if the body was thicker (maybe around 7mm).

Off topic, but what satellite internet do you have? I had Hughes net years ago and wound up going completely cellular st home (which wound up sucking because my ATT service has gotten poorer instead of better), and I just got Viasat. I am extremely impressed so far with the speed and I only got the second level up out of 4 (planning to bump it in the fall because my work from home job is on a school schedule and has no summer income).

I didn’t know if that’s what you’re working with or if it was an option for you, but thought I’d mention it.
